MARIETTA - Bobbie D. Damron, 78, of Alpharetta, GA, passed from this life on December 31, 2013.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Bernice Damron; father, Wayne Damron; loving sister, Billie Downey; and niece, Cyndee Bennett. She is survived by her brother, Wayne Damron Jr.; nieces, Natalie Dixon and Haley Damron; nephews, Charles Horton, Robert Horton, and Hunter Damron; and several great nieces and nephews.
Bobbie was a world class athlete and a pioneer in women’s fast pitch softball and basketball. She attained All-American honors in both sports. In addition she was an accomplished musician, playing the alto saxophone in the United States Air Force WAF Band where she toured all 50 states. After graduation from the University of Florida she obtained her master’s degree and became a teacher and coach by vocation, positively impacting the lives of all who had the privilege of meeting her.
A memorial service will be held this Saturday at 11am at the home of her brother, 2665 Hopewell Plantation Drive, Alpharetta, GA 30004. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Wayne Damron Family Charitable Fund where 100% will be allocated toward veterans’ assistance. Please send donations to the address above.
