Former President Jimmy Carter is scheduled to teach Sunday school this Sunday at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains.


The Rev. Lawrence A. Johnson from Wesley Chapel in Florida will be installed as pastor of First Bethesda Mission Baptist Church at 4 p.m. on Jan. 19. Johnson was ordained in 2011 and has a B.A. degree from Triune Biblical University in Christian counseling. He previously served as associate minister at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Tampa, Fla., and as youth minister at New Testament Missionary Baptist Church in Thonotosassa, Fla. Johnson and his wife, Angela, have three children and two grandchildren. The church is located at 7108 New Road in Albany.

Byne Memorial Baptist Church will conduct revival services Jan. 26-29 with Thomas Hammond, senior pastor of Alpharetta First Baptist Church, serving as guest speaker. Worship leader will be Jeff Slaughter, formerly of Lifeway VBS Music. Services begin at 6 p.m. on Jan. 26 and 7 p.m. on Jan. 27-29. For more information, call (229) 436-5700 or email byne@byne.org.

Second Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Bronwood will observe its annual Family and Guest Day beginning at 11 a.m. on Jan. 26. The message will be brought by the Rev. Ezekiel Holley of Dawson. The church is located on Fourth Street in Bronwood.
