The Albany Daylily Club will meet Saturday at noon at Phoebe East Conference Rooms A&B on 2410 Sylvester Road.
The featured guest speaker will be Scott Elliott of Maneki Neko Gardens in Pembroke. Elliott has had extensive involvement in daylily hybridization and plant culture. He completed undergraduate work was in Soil Science and Chemistry with a Ph.D. in Pharmacology and has since taught a variety of classes.
In addition, Elliot has written eight articles on daylily culture published during 2013. He has hybridized daylilies since 1983, introduced 41 registered varieties in recent years, and is the winner of numerous American Hemerocallis Society awards and medals to include the Ophelia Taylor Horticultural Award in 2013.
He is both an AHS Garden Judge and Senior Exhibition Judge; served as a local daylily club officer as well as currently serving as the Regional Publicity Director for Region 5, Georgia and is a member of both the AHS Scientific Studies Committee and the AHS Publications Committee.
