Georgia Bureau of Investigation looking into fatal shooting in Moultrie

Man found dead following Friday shooting in Moultrie

MOULTRIE — Area law enforcement officials are currently looking into the circumstances involved in a fatal shooting that took place Friday evening.

Steve Turner, special agent in charge of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation office in Thomasville, said that the Moultrie Police Department was called to 816 Eighth Ave. Southeast, in reference to a shooting at around 6:30 p.m. on Friday. At the residence, officers found Danny Hill, 23, who lived on Summer Circle in Moultrie, dead of an apparent gunshot wound.

Turner said Monday that officials were not releasing information yet on where Hill was shot or how many bullet wounds he received. Agents are still looking into the motive behind the shooting.

“We are not sure yet,” Turner said of the motive. “(We will release that later as we get) a clearer picture of what happened.”

Turner also said investigators are in the process of tracking down possible individuals to be interviewed in connection to the case, and that the GBI does have a few leads.

There was no suspect description available Monday due to there being no eyewitness to the shooting, Turner said. Hill’s body was taken in for an autopsy.
