James H. Smith
ALBANY - Jimbo Smith, 96, of Albany, died Friday, January 17, 2014 at his home.
His funeral service will be at 11 AM Monday, January 20, 2014 at Kimbrell-Stern with interment to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Don Adams will officiate.
Mr. Smith was born in Sylvester, but lived most of his life in Albany. He graduated from Albany High School in 1934. He was a naval veteran of World War II. Mr. Smith was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church where he served as an usher for many years. He was employed with Coats and Clark and retired in 1982. Mr. Smith was a member of the Walter Burt American Legion Post 30, and he was an avid golfer.
Mr. Smith is survived by his son: Carl Smith (DeAnn), Leesburg; a daughter: Marijo Hatcher (Bubba), Albany; grandchildren: Leslie Akins (Kenon), Jimbo Griffie, Justin Vinson, Beth Lee, and Glen Allen; 5 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern on Sunday from 2-4 PM.
