Delta flights into the Southwest Georgia Regional Airport have been cancelled until midday tomorrow, Airport Director Yvette Aehle said.
ALBANY — Delta flights into the Southwest Georgia Regional Airport have been cancelled until midday tomorrow, Airport Director Yvette Aehle said.
Aehle said Tuesday’s midday flight into the airport would be the last Delta flight until Wednesday’s midday flight, the Atlanta-based carrier having suspended all other flights due to the winter storm expected to hit the Southeast.
“We’ve got our midday flight in right now, and it will the last Delta flight until tomorrow’s midday flight,” Aehle said. “We’re taking every precaution as we wait to see what the weather’s going to do.”
Aehle told the Albany-Dougherty Aviation Commission at that board’s monthly meeting Monday evening that the Albany-based airport had had no cancellations in the month of December and had an 81 percent on-time mark for flights during the month.
“Given the unpredictable weather we had during December, our airfield operations were very positive for the month,” Aehle told the board. “The 81 percent on-time numbers are very good for the weather we had in Southwest Georgia.”
