Man dies in Colquitt County wreck Tuesday

State patrol investigates fatal wreck near Moultrie

MOULTRIE — A wreck involving a tractor-trailer resulted in a fatality on Tuesday evening, officials with the Georgia State Patrol say.

Trooper Travis Roberts of the GSP post in Thomasville said the wreck happened at the intersection of Perry Road and Georgia Highway 133 at 9:15 p.m. Matthew Garver, 21, was reportedly traveling north on Perry Road while a tractor-trailer was traveling east on Highway 133, approaching the intersection with Perry Road.

Garver failed to stop at the stop sign and struck the side of the trailer. There were no signs indicating Garver tried to stop, the trooper said.

Garver was pronounced dead at the scene. As Garver was found to be at fault, there were no charges pending against the driver of the tractor-trailer driver. Results from samples were pending, but it was not believed that drugs or alcohol were a factor, Roberts said.
