ALBANY — Artistic Director Mark Costello has announced that Theatre Albany will conduct auditions for the Neil Simon comedy “The Odd Couple” (the female version) Sunday and July 27 at 7 p.m. both dates at the theatre located at 514 Pine Ave.

In 1985, Neil Simon revised “The Odd Couple” for a female cast. The Female Odd Couple was based on the same story line and same lead characters, now called Florence Ungar and Olive Madison. The production opened on Broadway in 1985 with Sally Struthers and Rita Moreno. The poker game became Trivial Pursuit with their friends becoming the girlfriends. The Pigeon sisters became the Costazuela brothers.

Director Costello is looking to cast six women: Florence, Olive, girlfriends Mickey, Sylvie, Vera, and Renee, and two Hispanic men for the roles of Manolo and Jesus.

Rehearsals are set to begin in late August with performances scheduled for Sept. 26 thru Oct. 5. For further information, call the theatre at (229) 439-7193.
