ALBANY — A residence in the 2300 block of Bristol Road has been selected Yard of the Month for July by the Daffodil Garden Club.

Marideane Maxwell, who chairs the yard selection committee for the club, says Annette and John Cromartie, the homeowners of the residence at 2321 Bristol Road, “put a lot of thought and planning” into their home.

“They married in 1961 and as they traveled, they were on the lookout for the type of home they wanted,” Maxwell said. “They built their home in 1973 and John had the forethought not to clear-cut their property, so they have a natural setting on part of their land.”

The results earned the couple the club’s top recognition for the Albany area for the month of July.

“The outstanding yard has been a work in progress,” Maxwell observed. “And the results truly are outstanding.

“Every detail has been thought out and it is a masterpiece.”

Daffodil Garden Club officials say the monthly recognition is given out in the hope that it will inspire others to improve the appearance of their homes. The club accepts nominations from the public, who can contact Maxwell at (229) 436-6888 with suggestions of homes that should be considered.

The Daffodil Garden Club meets at 2 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the Federated Garden Center at Fifth Avenue adjacent to Hilsman Park. The club’s next meeting is scheduled for Sept. 16.
