Former President Jimmy Carter is not scheduled to teach Sunday School this week at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains. Carter’s next appearance at the church is scheduled for Aug. 17 at 10 a.m.


First Southern Methodist Church, located at 2510 Hilltop Drive, will host a movie night at 7 p.m. tonight. Adults will watch "Facing the Giants," and children will watch separate film. Popcorn and drinks provided; event is free. For more info, call (843) 616-2357.

Greater Pines Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1203 S. Jefferson St. will conduct its annual celebration of the Church’s Mass Choir at 4 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. James C. Bush, pastor, said that the program theme is “I Will Shout for Joy and Sing,” taken from the Psalm 65:13. The speaker for this special occasion will be the Rev. James B. Stokes, pastor of the Rocky Hill Missionary Baptist Church of Albany. He and his members will be in charge of the services.

Greater New Horizon Bible Church plans its consecration and installation services Aug. 25-31 at 7 p.m. each date. Different pastors and churches will be on the program each night. The church is located at 923 W. Broad Ave. Bishop Tremaine O. Alford Sr. is founder and pastor.

Worth of Truth Evangelistic Fellowship Ministries Inc. at 1510-12 W. Broad Ave. will have a community expo Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The event will feature food, music, activities and informational sessions. For more information, call (229) 439-2411.
