Elouise Latimer Willis
ALBANY – Mrs. Elouise Latimer Willis was born in Terrell County, Georgia on July 17, 1931, to the late Terry and Laura Iverson Latimer. She attended the public schools of Terrell County.
Elouise was joined in holy matrimony to Horace Willis, Jr., and with this union, twelve children were born.
“Big Mamma”, as she was so affectionately called, was a very loving person who always had a smile on her face. She was an extremely genuine person who loved people and was always there to lend a helping hand. As a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she was most attentive to the needs of her family. Her devoted daughter Kimberly Willis, son-in-law Henry Porter, granddaughter DeLyncia Porter, and grandson EnRique May all loved and cherished her dearly and provided cared for her unconditionally.
On Friday, July 25, 2014, “Big Mamma” made a peaceful transition from this earthly life to her eternal home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Willis, Jr.; three daughters, Lula Goude, Mildred Ellis, and Sharon Reese; two brothers, George Latimer and Terry Latimer; and one sister, Frances O’Neal.
She leaves to cherish her memories four sons, Jerome (Donna) Willis and Edwin (Mattie) Willis both of Albany, GA, Robert (Michele) Willis of Atlanta, GA, and Horace Willis, III of Augusta, GA; five daughters, Tracy (James) of Fort Walter, FL, Debra (Michael), Kimberly (Henry), Frances, and Taria Willis all of Albany, GA; 40 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; three siblings, Eva Walker and Claudia Jones both of Albany, GA, and Apostle Anvert Latimer of Atlanta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Berachah Fellowship Church, 1719 Cordele Road. Bishop J. Nathan Paige will officiate. Interment will follow in the Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery, 120 Old Pretoria Road. Visitation will be held today, Friday, August 1, 2014 from 9:00 AM until 8:30 PM at M. L. King Southside Chapel, 1908 M. L. King, Jr. Drive. The family will receive friends at 1011 Netherlands Lane.
