NASHVILLE — The CMT Music Awards weren’t taking any chances with Leesburg’s Luke Bryan having a repeat of his recent fall off a stage.

Kristen Bell, who hosted Wednesday night’s show on CMT, said, “For those of you who missed it, Luke fell off the stage last week. But, Luke, this night we’ve taken some extra precautions, because we’ve got your back, buddy.”

Bryan, who fell off the stage at a May 29 concert in Charlotte, N.C., was secured in his seat in the audience — wrapped tightly with bright yellow caution tape.

Bryan took shares of two awards Wednesday night, winning CMT Performance of year with Lionel Richie for their performance of “Oh No/All Night Long” at the 2013 CMT Artists of the Year Show and for Collaborative Video of the Year with Florida Georgia Line for “This is How We Roll.”

FGL and Bryan performed that song at the opening of the show, with Bryan returning later to walk through the crowd before mounting the stage to perform his No. 1 “Play It Again.”

When he accepted the top performance award with Richie, Bryan said, “I’m speechless. I cannot believe I’ve had the opportunity to hang with this guy, to be in his presence, to watch him light up a room. He has that amazing ability.”

Carrie Underwood was the big winner for the night, taking the Video of the Year Award for “See You Again.”

Also winning were:

— Group Video of the Year: “Done,” The Band Perry;

— Breakthrough Video of the Year: “Wasting All These Tears,” Cassadee Pope (Bronwood’s Cole Swindell was a nominee in this category);

— Male Video of the Year: “Doin’ What She Likes,” Blake Shelton;

— Female Video of the Year: “Automatic,” Miranda Lambert;

— Duo of the Year: “Round Here,” Florida Georgia Line.
