Man hospitalized after Saturday stabbing

Teenager sent to youth detention center after reported stabbing

ALBANY — A man was hospitalized after being stabbed in the chest by a teenager on Saturday, officials from the Albany Police Department said.

The incident took place at 500 Pinson Road, the site of Pine Forrest Apartments, at 9:34 a.m., reports from the APD show. Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the APD, said findings from the initial investigation show the victim and suspect got into an argument over money. At some point, the disagreement turned physical and the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim in the chest.

The victim, identified as 20-year-old Quantarian Thomas, was transported for medical treatment. The suspect is a 15-year female who was taken to the Regional Youth Detention Center, Banks said.

A Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital spokeswoman said Thomas was in good condition on Monday. The juvenile suspect is being charged with aggravated assault, Banks said.
