Theatre Albany sets auditions Monday for Always Patsy Cline

The auditions are for the role of Louise Seger

ALBANY — Theatre Albany will conduct auditions Monday evening for it August production of the musical “Always … Patsy Cline.”

Auditions will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Theatre Albany, 514 Pine Ave.

Jennifer Varnadoe will return to the stage for the production in the role of country music legend Patsy Cline. The auditions, according to the theater’s artistic director, Mark Costello, are for the role of Louise Seger.

The Seger character is a 30something-year-old Houston housewife who struck up a friendship with Cline that lasted until the singer’s death. Seger provides the narrative of the play while Cline comes on and off the set, singing the tunes that made her famous.

Auditioners for the role of Seger will be asked to read from the script. They do not have to prepare a song for the audition.

Rehearsals for the musical will begin next month. Performances are scheduled for Aug. 15-24.
