Nina Rita Harris Curles Coleman
PELHAM- Nina Rita Harris Curles Coleman, 80, of Jesup, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah, Georgia. Rita was born on December 21, 1933 in Pelham, Georgia to the late James and Blanche Wilder Harris. She attended Pelham High School from 1948-1951 where she was senior class treasurer and a member of the varsity basketball team. Rita was a homemaker the majority of her life but many may remember her during her years at Lewis Drug Company in Pelham where she worked from 1967-1973. The last eleven years of her life she was a resident of the Jesup Healthcare Center nursing home located in Jesup, Georgia. Rita was a very active member of the Healthcare Center where she represented the residents to management, taught art classes and was active in the local church. She was Presbyterian by faith. She is survived by her sons Michael Lamar Curles of Vienna, Virginia, Johnson Lee Curles and wife Wanda of Lakeland, Florida, Jack Lamar Curles, Jr. of Midland City, Alabama, grandchildren Erica Ann Curles, Lindsey Carroll Curles, Era Leeann Curles, sister Nancy Tennyson, who is 89, of Quitman, Georgia and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband’s Jack Lamar Curles, Sr., Bobby Coleman, parents James and Blanche Wilder Harris, brother James Harris, Jr. and sisters Alice Swan and Harriett Summerford. On Saturday, July 5, 2014, a very special service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Quitman, Georgia, when all of Rita’s family and friends can gather together to celebrate her life at 11:00 A.M. The Eulogy will be given by her eldest son Michael L Curles and the service presided over by Rev. Walt Tennyson. Memorial contributions can be sent to the First Presbyterian Church, 200 North Court Street, Quitman, Georgia 31643 to honor her memory. Also, a graveside memorial service will be conducted on the same day at 3:00 p.m. at Pelham City Cemetery.
