Haynes Thomas Trawick

SYLVESTER - Haynes Thomas Trawick, 92, of Dothan, formerly of Sylvester and Albany, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014. He was born December 24, 1921 in Macon, Georgia. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Sylvester, Georgia, but was also a part of the First Baptist Church, Dothan, Alabama for the last three years.

Haynes was a WWII veteran and retired as a Major in the United States Army. He received the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and Combat Infantry Badge among other medals. He was also a Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Mason, having held numerous offices, including Past Master of several lodges. He retired from Dalton Utilities in Dalton, Ga. in 1983.

Survivors include his daughters, Marilyn Trawick Bishop of Dothan, Al. and Sylvia Trawick Joiner (Paul) of Albany, Ga. He is also survived by granddaughters, Cindi Bishop Ramsey (Michael) and Lisa Bishop and grandsons, Paul E. Joiner, III (Julie) and Bret Joiner (Rachel). He leaves 10 great grand children and a number of nieces and nephews and two sisters-in-law, Betty Brazil and Phyllis Brazil.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Jessie Couch Trawick, four brothers, Aaron, Guy, Herbert (his twin), Brooks and two sisters, Emily Trawick and Delores Trawick Cline, and his wife, Grace Brazil Trawick.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. EST at First Baptist, Sylvester, Georgia with Dr. Ben Bush and Rev. David Willard officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the First Baptist Church. A Masonic graveside service with military honors will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Sylvester, Ga.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Paul E. Joiner, III, Bret Joiner, Michael Ramsey, and Wilson Ramsey, son-in-law Paul E. Joiner, Jr. and Buddy Clark. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Worth Lodge #194 and members of FBC choir.
