Albany teen hit by truck on Sylvester Road

ALBANY — Jazarus Fuller, 17, remains in Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital after being struck by a truck on Sunday.

According to the Albany Police Department, Fuller was texting on his phone while attempting to cross Sylvester Road at the intersection of Olivia Street in East Albany when he was struck by a red 1997 Ford F-350 pickup truck driven by Randall Bentley, 55, of Sumner.

Police said the truck was traveling east on Sylvester Road in the outside lane when Fuller began running to try and get across the roadway to beat the oncoming traffic. Fuller’s injuries were considered serious.

Phoebe officials reported Fuller was in fair condition.

No charges have been filed and the incident remains under investigation.
