Charles E. Kemp

ALPHARETTA - Charles E. Kemp (77) of Greensboro, Georgia, died Sunday, March 2, 2014. Charlie was born on September 1,1936, in Pelham, Georgia, to the late Edgar Reid Kemp and Annie Dell Smith Kemp. After graduating from Pelham High School, he attended The University of Georgia in Athens, GA. He served in the U.S. Air Force and went on to receive an MBA from Georgia State University, in Atlanta. He completed his education with a CPCU designation.

He enjoyed a very successful, rewarding and well-rounded career in commercial insurance, serving clients and colleagues in Atlanta and the southeast Charlie held the position of worldwide managing director at Marsh & McLennan Companies.

He retired to St. Augustine and, subsequently, to Ponce Inlet Florida. Charlie led an active lifestyle enjoying swimming, biking and being outdoors under the Florida sun. He and his wife relocated back to Georgia in 2005 to Greensboro, near Lake Oconee.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Donna Lee Kemp; daughters Ginny Kemp, Roswell; Kim Thompson and her wife, Dora Castillo, Atlanta; sons: Chris and his wife, Shannon Kemp, Big Canoe: Jeff and his wife, Lauren Kemp, Cumming; former spouse, Laura Kemp, Big Canoe; grandchildren: Chase, McKenna, Savannah, Harrison and Riley “Bear.” He was preceded in death by his sisters Barbara Millsap and Glenda Clifton.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014,2 pm, at the Bramlett Funeral Home in Camilla, GA.
