Evelyn Griffin Sizemore has gone to be with her Lord on March 6, 2014 at 9:45 PM at her daughters home after a brief illness. The next to last survivor of 12 children. She was 94 beautiful years of age and I do mean beautiful. As I watch her sleeping I see beauty in every wrinkle she has I wonder, how many wrinkles I am responsible for. Mother of 11 children that were blessed to have her for a mom. Early in her life times were very hard. Her first child was born at the end of the Depression, during a time when family was all you had. She managed to keep her children together no matter what and now all the kids have done very well in life. All through my lifetime there are so many things I can think of that I miss so very much, all the great stories of her life she would tell, all the funny little quirks she had, all the biblical wisdom she would try so hard to install in us. My mom only had a third grade education but she was as smart as they come. What she lacked in education she made up for with wisdom. Oh if only we would take note and listen.
Now as I see her in her final days a tear forms in her partially opened eyes for she is aware of things happening around her, the sadness in her loved ones, and she is sad for them but not for herself. Her journey has been long and she is ready to meet her Jesus and loved ones that went before her, for she knows that her parting from us is only temporary. Her only wish is that all of her kids will one day be home with her again.
I would like to thank our 2 sisters for all the loving caring care they give to Ma. All the countless hours and minutes of no sleep to attend to her every need. Rest assured that she was comfortable and she knew you. Your loving touch was more than she expected, you both excelled. Our youngest sister and husband gave up their home, their bedroom, their every day lives to care of Ma. No excuses, everything else was dropped. Thank you, thank you for the time, expression of love, for all we really have in this life is God and family, so please everyone hug your family member today.
Survivors include her loving kids, Charles Sizemore (Elizabeth), James Sizemore (Johnne), Nell Holmes (Wayne), Harold Sizemore (Kathy), Talmadge Sizemore (Pam), Marion Sizemore (Diane), Thomas Sizemore (Patricia Ann), Susie Yonce (Harry), 39 grand kids and numerous great grand kids and a sister, Lucille Hayes Mayers, 92, of Blairsville, GA.
She was preceded in death by 3 sons, Frank Sizemore, Ed Sizemore and David Sizemore.
