ALBANY — T. Marshall Jones, who retired as head of Albany State University’s Music and Fine Arts Department, will be taking a little heat from his friends Friday.
But it’s all in good fun and for a worthy cause.
Jones will be the guest of honor at a roast at 7 p.m. Friday at the Kirkland Conference Center at Albany Technical College. The event — billed as an evening of good humor, food and friendship — is a fundraiser for the Albany Technical College Foundation.
From 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. will be a social hour during which a silent auction will be conducted.
Jones, who is now minister of music at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, said Friday he was ready “as well as I can be” for the good-natured barbs coming his way Friday night.
“I did one about three years ago,” he said. “My fraternity roasted me.”
Asked by Albany Tech President Anthony Parker to be the target again, Jones said he was willing to do it for a good cause. “It’s for foundation scholarships,” he said.
Individual tickets for the event were $50 and tables for eight were $500. Contact (229) 430-6624 for more information.
