Master Gardeners hosting show at mall

ALBANY — The Master Gardener Extension Volunteers will have educational displays set up in the Albany Mall Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Daylilies, tomatoes, eggplants, peppers and camellias will be for sale in the JC Penney wing of the mall..

Attendees will learn about gardening and beekeeping and what makes for the best pollinators and plants Activities for children will be available as well.

APD accepting application for police academy

ALBANY — The Albany Police Department is now accepting applications for the 30th session of the Citizens Police Academy.

The 12 weekly, two-hour sessions, will begin on March 25 and will continue until June 24. Class times are from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Citizens will be given an opportunity to learn about a variety of topics. In addition, there will be opportunities to ride with an officer on patrol.

Anyone interested in participating in the Albany Police Department’s Citizens Police Academy can go to the City’s website to pre-register by downloading an application. There are also applications available, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the front desk at the Law Enforcement Center located at 201 W. Oglethorpe Blvd. The program is free and open to the public.
