ALBANY — Candidates for the May primary election in Dougherty County have been invited to speak at a town hall meeting on Saturday, according to Jon Howard, Ward I Albany city commissioner.
Howard said the meeting will begin promptly at 10 a.m. at the East Albany Community Center, 1721 E. Oglethorpe.
In a statement, Howard said candidates scheduled to appear include Christopher Cohilas and Goria Gaines, candidates for Dougherty County Commission chair; Jack Stone (incumbent) and Anthony Jones, candidates for Dougherty County Commission District 6 and Shirlette Marcus, Dean Phinazee and Princess Milledge, candidates for Dougherty County School Board District 6.
Saturday’s political event is part of an ongoing series of Town Hall Meetings aimed at informing citizens of Albany, Howard said. According to Howard, the program will continue until about 11:30 a.m.
Howard said the meeting will provide an opportunity for attendees to meet the candidates and to learn about their views. Each candidate will make a seven-minute presentation about their platform and later answer questions from the audience, Howard said.
