Americus Junior Service League announces spring fundraiser

AMERICUS — On April 26th, the Junior Service League of Americus will launch its inaugural Mighty Machines: A Family Safety and Learning Expo, which will take place from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Sumter County Parks and Recreation Department Sports Complex.

This family-friendly event will provide a chance for the area’s youth to get a hands-on opportunity to discover the area’s local mighty machines and meet the people who help build, protect and serve the community of Americus. Examples of mighty machines include, but are not limited to, police and emergency vehicles, large farming machines, dump trucks, airplanes and boats.

In addition to providing children with education and knowledge regarding large machinery and future careers, there will also be a portion of the event dedicated to health and safety demonstrations. Local professionals will be set up to educate and entertain families on a variety of safety demonstrations, such as, fire, seat belt and bike helmet safety, just to name a few.

Tickets are $5 per person — age 1 year and under will admit for free — and will be available for purchase from active league members in the month of April. For more information, please see the event page on Facebook — Americus Jr. Service League’s Mighty Machines — or send an email to JSLmightymachines@gmail.com.
