AUSTIN - Jim Mulford of Round Rock finally succumbed to illness and passed away on Sunday March 23rd. He was 79.
Jim was born in Camilla, GA in 1934. He grew up in a community of close knit family members and farmers. He served in the NAVY aboard the USS Eisenhower in the Korean conflict. When he came home, he went to college and married Rubye (Rubinelle Kindrex) just as soon as he could find her.
Jim and Rubye were married for 48 years until her death in 2005. They had two children- Gina and Steve. The family moved from Jackson, Mississippi to Dallas, Texas in 1978.
Jim worked as an insurance industry sales and marketing executive throughout most of his career. When he left insurance, he managed a division of a roofing company before obtaining his real estate license.
Jim and Rubye moved from Dallas to the Round Rock area in 1996 and Jim worked in real estate. Later he would create and manage a successful contract and recruiting firm- ROC Services- until his retirement.
Jim was well known in his community as a leader and mentor as well as a tireless worker. He enjoyed helping others through his work with St. Richards Church (as Senior Warden, at the annual Pumpkin Patch and with the Brotherhood of Saint Andrews) as well as the Women’s Crisis Center, New Beginnings Mentoring Minestry and the Round Rock Area Serving Center.
His passing leaves a big gap in the lives of his family and his large circle of friends, but he will be missed most of all by his grand children who were the light of his life.
Thank you Jim/PooBah for everything. We miss you.
