ALBANY — In what has become an annual, spring tradition local gift shop Place on the Pointe will be welcoming bestselling author James Farmer for a book-signing on Monday.
Farmer, whose new book “Dinner on the Grounds” recently hit shelves, will be at the store from noon until 3 p.m.
“He’s been so gracious every year coming here to sign books and visit with us,” said Elyse Brown of Place on the Pointe. “We want the community to come out and show him a good southern welcome.”
Elyse Brown of Place on the Pointe will serve light refreshments during Farmer’s visit, all culled from recipes from his past books, that visitors can sample.
Brown said that the store will have copies not only of “Dinner on the Grounds” but Farmer’s past works as well, including “A Time to Plant,” “Sip & Savor,” “A Time to Cook,” and “Porch Living.”
Farmer and his ideas have been featured on NBC’s Today Show, HGTV’s Gardens, Paula’s Home Cooking, Harper’s Bazaar, Good Housekeeping and Woman’s Day, among others. The Perry native is also an editor-at-large for Southern Living.
In 2013 Farmer opened James Farmer Inc. a design and antique store in downtown Perry.
According to Brown, despite his popularity and busy schedule, Farmer has continued his relationship with Place on the Pointe over the years, returning now for the third year in a row to sign books and visit.
