ALBANY — Impact Sports and Fitness has officially opened its facilities with grand opening festivities last week.
A fixture in Cordele for the past decade, Impact Sports and Fitness expanded into Albany in mid-February when it moved into the location formerly occupied by The Gym.
Since that time, owner and personal trainer Jamie Fernandez and his staff have renovating the location and added more than 250 new members.
“It’s been really good,” said Fernandez. “It’s really exceeded our expectations. The community has embraced us and we’ve been very well received.”
Fernandez feels the community has embraced Impact for a variety of reasons, including the different workout options offered, including basic gym access or numerous classes and personalized training options.
“We offer a basic access membership for people who just want to come in and do their own thing and we offer different individual and group training options,” Fernandez said. “Our biggest draw has been training. We’re Training for Warriors affiliated and do a lot on the performance side.”
According to Fernandez a lot of clients are athletes that come to Impact for specific performance training designed to help them in their respective sports.
“We have the ability to assess an athlete’s goals for the sports field and help them train to meet those goals,” he said. “We treat athletes as athletes.”
In addition to the full gym facilities and training options, Impact also offers a drink cooler, a juice bar featuring City Blends smoothies, various nutritional supplements, and nutrition counseling.
“We have a holistic approach to exercise and nutrition,” Fernandez said. “Nutrition is fuel for the body so we provided tips on diet and healthy eating.”
Fernandez said another feature at Impact that has added to its success is its family focus. Impact currently offers exercise and training options for all ages and also offers an area for children, where they can play and color while their parents are working out.
