ASHBURN- The funeral services for the late Mr. Curtis “Pete” Jackson of 214 Kennedy Ave. Ashburn, GA, who departed this life on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at his residence will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. from the New Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Ashburn, GA with the pastor, Rev. Dr. Marvin Brown, officiating. Burial will follow in the Westview Memorial Cemetery in Ashburn, GA.

Deacon Curtis Jackson, Sr. was born on September 24, 1941 in Turner County, GA.

He was educated in the Turner County Public School System, and attended Eureka High School.

Curtis, also known as “Pete”, confessed his faith and joined the New Providence Missionary Baptist Church. At New Providence, he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board, Church Treasurer, and a past Sunday School Superintendent.

Pete was employed at Ashburn Health Care for 35 years until he retired.

Curtis was a member of the Fidelity Lodge #119, PHA, Ashburn, GA

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Janie Mae Jackson; his children, Willie Nickerson, Jr., Gail (Rufus) Brown, Elaine Oliver, Mellason (Derrick) Davis, Albert Nickerson; eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth Jackson; a brother, Leroy, Jackson; aunts, Dorothy Herring, Fannie Lou Davis; sisters-in-law, Dianne (Arthur) Tumbling, Lula (Samuel) Johnson, Vera Mobley, Debbie Newberry, Sherry Martin; brothers-in-law, Arthur Newberry, Roy Lee (Bakie) Newberry, George Lewis, Joel Martin
