Albany Police investigate West Whitney death

ALBANY — An Albany man was shot to death on Monday as he stood in front of his home at 1206 W. Whitney Ave., police officials say. Officers of the Albany Police Department responded to the area around 9 p.m., where witnesses said they heard shots and saw a young man collapse outside his home.

The victim, later identified as 23-year-old Jeffery Dewayne Nunley, was rushed to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital where he died a short time later, police officials say.

The suspect is described by police as a black male, last seen wearing a red shirt and jeans shorts who may have been traveling in a silver car.
