IDA GRACE MORGAN
ALBANY- Ms. Ida Grace Morgan, age 74, of Albany, Georgia, died Friday, March 9,2014, at Palmyra Nursing Home in Albany.
A Memoriam will be held Thursday, May 15,2014, at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 901 South Westover Boulevard with Rev. Dr. Daniel Simmons, officiating.
Ms. Morgan was born on October 4,1939, in Valdosta, Georgia, to the late John and Mary Adams
Morgan. Her junior high and three years of high school (Monroe High) were spent in Albany. Her
senior year was spent in Fort Gaines, Georgia, where she graduated from Asbury Speight High
School. She attended Albany State College (University) and majored in sociology.
Ida was employed at Southern Bell Telephone Company and Albany State College (University) as a
switchboard operator. Her pleasing personality was always recognized and appreciated whenever she
greeted callers. While employed at Albany State, she also worked as file clerk in the Procurement Office and cashier in the Bookstore. After 30 years of invaluable service to the institution, she retired in 1998.
Ida was a member of Mt. Zion Bapist Church. Her love of God was shown in her faith, bright
witness, and good deeds.
Cherishing her legacy of generosity and interest in and love of people are : a nephew, Frank (Keiko) Adams, Upper Marlboro, Maryland; God brothers and God sisters, Winfred (Sara J.) Benson, Albany, Georgia, Rev. Carolyn Hanks Holley, Smyrna, Georgia, Harold (Cathy) James, Atlanta, Georgia, Juanita J. James, Woodstock, Georgia, Owen F. James, College Park, Georgia; cousin, Mary Hill, Albany, Georgia, and close friends, Marguerite Bonner, Lizzie Dodson, Lillian King James, and Carrie W. Laster, all of Albany, Georgia, Annie M. Benton, and Rosie Dunn, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Gloria Peterman Monagan, Westerville, Ohio. Ida was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Adams, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Mt. Zion Baptist Church or United Hospice at Palmyra
