Sunday voting coming to Dougherty County on Oct. 26

ALBANY — For the first time, Dougherty County voters will be able to vote on a Sunday this election.
After being asked by the Dougherty County Commission to reconsider the issue, the Dougherty County Elections Board has just voted to allow advance voting from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26.
The Elections Board had earlier decided to not have Sunday voting, but reversed that decision in a 3-2 vote today.
At the Sept. 29 County Commission meeting, Election Board member Commodore Conyers told commissioners that the Elections Board had decided against Sunday voting, which would cost an additional $1,100, because Dougherty voters historically have not taken advantage of early voting opportunities.
Advance voting is now in progress. Election Day is Nov. 4.
More details as they develop.
