Phoebe Sumter gets new CEO

AMERICUS – Brandi Lunneborg has been named chief executive officer of Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, a 76-bed hospital located in Americus, effective Nov. 17.
Lunneborg most recently served as vice president of operations for Mercy Hospital, a 271-bed tertiary care facility in Coon Rapids, Minn. During her tenure, the hospital received designation as a Truven Top 100 Hospital (third award) and US News & World Report “Best Hospitals” for 2013-2014, and is a 2013 Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award Winner. Mercy Hospital is part of the Allina Health System, a not-for-profit network of hospitals, clinics and other health care services.
“Brandi has a proven track record of more than 15 years of experience as a performance improvement leader in both revenue cycle and hospital operations. We are delighted she has chosen to put her exceptional leadership abilities to work here at Phoebe Sumter in the Americus community,” said Joel Wernick, Phoebe Putney Health System chief executive officer.
Prior to serving as vice president of operations for Mercy Hospital, Lunneborg served as director of operations and director of billing during her career with Allina Health System.
Lunneborg received her bachelor of arts degree in psychology at Carleton College in Northfield Minn. and her masters of business administration degree at American InterContinental University in Hoffman Estates, Ill. She is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Lunneborg and her husband, Todd, bring with them their children Ian and Ara, both age eight. Todd, is a guitar maker, music educator and journalist who for the past 16 years owned his own business and maintained the instruments of recording artists. He also enjoys sharing and encouraging a love of music, math and physics by speaking to local schools, colleges, and craftsman classrooms.
