Ray Knight Player of the Year

Denzell Gowdy, 3B/P, Worth County

WHY HE’S HERE: Finished with a .593 batting average with 10 homers, seven doubles, two triples and 34 RBIs. He also was strong on the mound, posting a 1.43 ERA with 64 strikeouts.

All-Area Baseball Team

Detravion Bishop, P, Terrell County, So.

WHY HE’S HERE: Bishop batted .475, had 14 RBIs and stole 18 bases. As a pitcher, he had 53 strikeouts in 39 innings and was selected to the 1-A all-region team and was named Co-pitcher of the year.

Nick Bush, P, Lee County, Sr.

WHY HE’S HERE: Voted second team all-region. In the past two seasons, Bush had an ERA of 1.70 with 96 strikeouts.

Johnathan Cirullo, INF, Worth County, Sr.

WHY HE’S HERE: Cirullo made only five errors all season at shortstop for the Rams. Had a career batting average of .338 in three years.

Tyler Classon, P/3B, Westwood, Sr.

WHY HE’S HERE: Batted .370 for the Wildcats and had an on-base percentage of .432.

Charles Crosby, P/OF, Deerfield-Windsor, Jr.

WHY HE’S HERE: Crosby batted .420 with seven doubles, a triple, a homer and 17 RBIs and was key figure in helping Deerfield-Windsor win state baseball title.

Greg Elder, P/U, Sherwood Christian, Sr.

WHY HE’S HERE: Elder batted .452 with two home runs and 14 RBIs. He had an on-base percentage of .538 and a slugging percentage of .810.

Jordan Flowers, P, Sherwood Christian, Jr.

WHY HE’S HERE: Flowers went 3-0 on the season with an ERA of 3.08. He struck out 26 batters while walking only eight in 25 innings pitched. Flowers also batted .375 with 12 hits and seven RBIs.

Dallas Greene, OF, Lee County, Sr.

WHY HE’S HERE: Greene batted .361 with two home runs and 19 RBIs on the season. He also had an on-base percentage of .420.

Napoleon Harris, P, Monroe, Jr.

WHY HE’S HERE: Harris led Monroe with three home runs, eight doubles, five triples and 12 RBIs. He also struck out 26 batters as a pitcher.

Jacques Irvin, 1B/3B, Westwood, Sr.

WHY HE’S HERE: Irvin batted .460 with an on-base percentage of .538 for the Wildcats.

Jake Jones, P, Worth County, Jr.

WHY HE’S HERE: Jones was 3-3 on the season with a 2.15 ERA, striking out 55 in 39 innings and only allowed 15 runs all year (12 earned).

Jordan McDaniel, P/SS, Terrell Academy, Sr.

WHY HE’S HERE: McDaniel finished with 16 RBIs for the Eagles. He also went 4-5 as a pitcher with a 3.96 ERA with 41 strikeouts in 40 innings.

Anthony McIntyre, C/P, Mitchell County, Fr.

WHY HE’S HERE: While McIntyre batted only .250, he drove in 20 RBIs for the Eagles. On the mound, he recorded a 4.20 ERA and struck out 35 batters.

Emory McKenzie, OF, Westover, Jr.

WHY HE’S HERE: McKenzie batted .338 with 32 stolen bases and an on-base percentage of .392. He batted .375 with runners in scoring position and scored 25 runs. As a pitcher, McKenzie averaged 8.9 strikeouts as a relief pitcher.

Tanner Mitchum, C, Westover, Sr.

WHY HE’S HERE: Mitchum batted .393 with 17 RBIs and batted .417 with runners in scoring position. He also had a .535 slugging percentage and a .419 on-base percentage.

Cody Reddell, P, Worth County, Jr.

WHY HE’S HERE: Reddell went 5-1 on the season with a 2.15 ERA. He struck out 36 and only gave up nine earned runs in 29 1/3 innings pitched.

Michael Reddick, P, Lee County, Sr.

WHY HE’S HERE: Another solid performer on the mound for the Trojans, Reddick started 10 games and went 6-2 on the season. He had an ERA of 2.38 and struck out 58 in 55 2/3 innings pitched.

Demetrius Reed, C/INF, Sherwood Christian, Sr.

WHY HE’S HERE: Batted .400 with two home runs and 13 RBIs. Had an on-base percentage of .508 and a slugging percentage of .700.

Jordan Reep, INF, Lee County, Sr.

WHY HE’S HERE: Reep batted .412 with one home run and 26 RBIs. He scored 18 runs and had an on-base percentage of .520.

John Samuel Shenker, DH/P, Deerfield-Windsor, So.

WHY HE’S HERE: Shenker batted .381 with 10 doubles, three homers and 25 RBIs. He also went 6-0 with a 1.15 ERA.

Dallas Sutton, C, Dougherty, Jr.

WHY HE’S HERE: Sutton batted .379 with 19 hits, 14 RBIs and scored four runs.

Dean Tompkins, P, Lee County, Sr.

WHY HE’S HERE: Solid performer in relief for the Trojans, going 5-1 with two saves and an ERA of 1.43. Tompkins walked 19 and struck out 35 in 29 1/3 innings pitched.

Ryan Toole, C/INF, Deerfield-Windsor, Sr.

WHY HE’S HERE: Toole was a multi-purpose player who provided a spark for DWS. The senior batted .301 with six doubles and 23 RBIs.

Fred West, P, Monroe, So.

WHY HE’S HERE: West finished with 23 doubles and 14 RBIs. As a pitcher, he recorded 18 strikeouts and recorded an ERA of 2.66.

Michael Whatley, SS, Dougherty, Sr.

WHY HE’S HERE: Whatley batted .402 for the Trojans with 23 hits.

Steven Williams, C/P/INF, Deerfield-Windsor, So.

WHY HE’S HERE: Williams batted .521 with seven doubles, three triples, five homers and 29 RBIs. He also played an integral role on the mound, finishing with six saves including a pair in the state championship series. He boasted a 0.96 ERA.
