Ryan Southern pops the question at Albany Marathon

ALBANY — Nearly exhausted after completing the 2015 Albany Half-Marathon, runner Ashli Hostettler-Six got an unusual pick-me-up when boyfriend Ryan Southern met her at the finish line on bended knee, asking for her hand in marriage.
After a six-month courtship, Southern said he felt like the time was right to pop the question and wanted to do something a little different by making the proposal after Hostettler-Six finished her first-ever half-marathon.
Fortunately for the young suitor, his girl wasn’t too worn out and accepted the proposal with a smile and hug.
“I said ‘yes,’” said a proud Hostettler-Six. “It was a great race, and to see him at the end was incredible. It’s awesome to be here with my best friend knowing I get to marry him.”
Both Southern and Hostettler-Six are airmen in the United States Air Force, stationed at Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta. With the thrill of the race and the proposal still lingering, the couple did not offer a date for the upcoming nuptials.
