Lt. Gen. William Faulkner, deputy commandant for Installations and Logistics, presided over the ceremony during which LOGCOM Sgt. Maj. Joseph Davenport III passed the LOGCOM colors to Maj. Gen. John Broadmeadow. Broadmeadow in turn passed them over to Maj. Gen. Craig Crenshaw, symbolizing the change of command.

Marine Corps Logistics Command honors former band with display showcase, ceremony

The Albany Marine Band, first established in 1990, was considered an integral part of the installation, including all commands, as well as the Albany community, when it was here. The band was formally deactivated in February 2012, one of two out of the 12 total Marine bands at the time to be cut.

Killed while on an air strike mission in 1966, remains of Col. William 'Earl' Cooper was positively identified in 2014

After his plane was hit by surface to air missles near a tiny village in North Vietnam over four decades ago, former Albany resident, and decorated Air Force pilot Col. William “Earl” Cooper was finally laid to rest last week at Arlington National Cemetary, giving peace to the members of his family who once believed they’d never receive closure.

Officials with the base confirmed Wednesday that Col. Don Davis, commanding officer of MCLB-Albany, would be leaving following a change of command that is to take place in late May. he is to continue his career with U.S. Northern Command in Colorado Springs, Colo. A formal announcement from the installation is expected in the coming days regarding the change of command.
