Aggravated assault incidents reported in Albany early Sunday

Assaults involved box cutters, firearms

Officers were dispatched to the stabbing at 601 Mitchell Ave. at around 2 a.m. on Sunday, and an aggravated assault involving a firearm was reported at 5 a.m. on Sunday from Fred’s at 1001 N. Slappey Blvd., police reports show.

Man wanted on traffic, obstruction charges

Christopher Jarrod Davis wanted in connection to June 24 incident

An Albany police report filed around 12:15 p.m. on June 24 said that officers were patrolling the 1700 block of Dawson Road when they saw a blue Ford F-150 failing to yield before turning left onto North Magnolia Street, almost causing oncoming traffic to collide with the vehicle. A stop attempt was initiated on Pineknoll Lane with lights and sirens, but the driver refused to stop.

James Napoleon Hawkins, 44, dies after being shot twice Sunday night

A man, later identified as James Napoleon Hawkins, 44, of Albany, was shot shortly after 10 p.m. on Sunday while on the 400 block of West Highland Avenue, reports from Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman from the Albany Police Department said. Early Monday, a 13-year-old boy is shot in the hand while riding a bicycle.
