Georgia's payout period for unemployment benefits will soon be among the two shortest in the nation.
The Georgia Department of Labor announced today that the preliminary unemployment rate in metro Albany rose to 10.1 percent in January.
Georgia’s unemployment rate rose to 10.3 percent in September.
The unemployment rate for Albany is now at 10.8 percent, according to data released by the Georgia Department of Labor.
A year ago, the jobless rate in the Albany area was 11.2 percent.
