Algeria's Taoufik Makhloufi, the top qualifier in the 1,500, was told to go home after he quit due to injury during his 800 heat Monday, then he appealed --- and won --- and was allowed back Tuesday, winning the 1,500 gold medal and capping one of the more bizarre stories of the entire 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
