Reigning Peach Belt Player of the Year Phillip Brown, of Georgia Southwestern, told The Herald on Saturday that despite tearing his MCL a week ago, he may still be able to return this season to help the Hurricanes defend their West Division Championship. GSW’s men’s basketball team is mired in a slump right now, including a tough home loss Saturday to Francis Marion, and things won’t get any easier with leading scorer Phillip Brown going down last week with a torn MCL, although Brown told The Herald on Saturday he is optimistic he will return this year — his final season wearing the blue and gold.
