Paul Maholm joined the Braves on Monday night and will try to help bolster Atlanta's rotation during the final two months of the season as it tries to make a playoff push.

Atlanta promised a deal before the trade deadline, and late Monday it put one together, acquiring a pitcher and an outfielder from the Cubs in exchange for Arodys Vizcaino, a top prospect who had season-ending Tommy John surgery in April, and Jaye Chapman.
