Congratulations, Mr. Braswell, on finally getting some recognition for your valor. Your service in the National Guard is enough to earn my respect. Your valor in combat elevates you to hero status in my opinion.

As a retired guardsman, I find it hard to believe that the Georgia Army National Guard would not have presented the award during a ceremony. Of course, we all know the military has it's share of snafus. Was it a problem with the Army or the National guard? The story doesn't say.

I wish the newspaper had contacted the Army and the National Guard for an explanation, particularly since there were critical comments in the story.

Isn't getting both sides of an issue a basic journalistic principle?
