The Tigers beat the woeful Yankees, who batted .188 in the postseason and only .157 against the Tigers in the ALCS, 8-1 on Thursday to sweep New York and storm into their 11th World Series and first since they lost to the Cardinals in 2006. It was the first time the Yankees had been swept in the postseason in 32 years.
