Early County’s Shawn Williams (36) took a calculated risk earlier this week when he called out his defense, hoping it would light a fire under No. 12 UGA as it heads into a showdown with No. 3 Florida on Saturday in Jacksonville. By the same token, the comments could backfire and divide the team.

Some of Damascus native Shawn Williams’ UGA teammates have supported his critical comments of the defense’s play, while others have fired back — although there seems to be one thing everyone agrees on: It’s no surprise a senior leader like Williams was the one who said it.
