ALBANY Historian and author Scott Kaufman of South Carolina will make two appearances in Southwest Georgia this week to discuss his new book, Rosalynn Carter: Equal Partner in the White House.
Today, Kaufman will be at Americus Library at 7 p.m.
On Wednesday, participants are encouraged to bring a sacked lunch for Kaufmans 12:30 p.m. presentation at Leesburg Library.
Admission to both events, which include book signings, is free.
At both appearances, Kaufman will discuss his new University Press of Kansas book, Rosalynn Carter: Equal Partner in the White House.
The 206-page publication depicts the time Rosalynn Carter spent serving as first lady while her husband served as the 39th U.S. president.
One cannot understand Jimmy Carters tenure without attention to the accomplishments of this extraordinary woman, fellow historian and biographer Betty Glad said in a recent news release.
An associate professor of history at Francis Marion University in Florence, S.C., Kaufman previously authored The Pig War: The United States, Britain and the Balance of Power in the Pacific Northwest, 1846-72, Confronting Communism: U.S. and British Policies Toward China and Francis Marion, Swamp Fox of South Carolina (Forgotten Heroes of the American Revolution).
The Kansas State University graduate also co-wrote a book about the 39th U.S. president, The Presidency of James Earl Carter Jr., with Burton I. Kaufman.
