Steven Richardson, 18, told police he was shot in the midsection while walking in the 600 block of West Society Avenue. A car with a group of men who yelled “Eastside Boys” pulled up and fired two to three shots, police reports show.
Richardson’s shooting comes on the heels of a shooting at Club Climaxx where Jason Rogers, 18, was shot in the buttocks after a fight broke out during a confrontation with a group claiming to be “Eastside Boys,” police reports show.
Police have yet to publicly acknowledge any gang involvement in either case, except for accounts by victims and witnesses noted in police reports.
Around midnight, police responded to the emergency room at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival officers saw Dontavious Thomas and Tchywaskie Jones carrying a man later identified as Richardson from a car into the emergency room, police reports show.
Once there, Richardson told police that he was walking from the King’s Mart Convenience Store on North Madison Street when a burgundy Dodge Stratus with a group of men drove by, police reports show.
According to police reports, Richardson told police that the men yelled out “Eastside Boys” and pulled up along side him. Thinking they were some of his friends just messing around, Richardson walked up to the car and heard two or three gunshots and ran to a friend’s house for help.
Police noted that Richardson had been shot in his left midsection and that there appeared to be an exit wound on the left side of his back, reports show.
Officers said they noticed burn marks near his wound, indicating that the shooter was near Richardson when the shooting happened.
