Jacqueline Champion

ALBANY — Jacqueline (Bunny) Champion, 62, of 1017 Pearson Rd., Worth County. died Thursday, May 8, 2008 at her residence.

Funeral service will be held Monday 11 a.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Michael A. McAfee and the Rev. Ann Heinemann officiating.

A native of Virginia, Mrs. Champion had lived in the Albany area for many years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, James P.(Jimmy) Champion, III; a daughter, Fran Sheffield and her husband, Tony, of Cairo; a son, Chip Champion and his wife, Leigh Ann of Tifton; grandchildren, Fletcher Sheffield, Sarah Sheffield and Claire Champion; two sisters, Mrs. Ike (Laura) Latham of Clute, TX, and Mrs. Charles R. (Karen) Weber of Olympia, WA; an aunt, Mary Underwood of Naples, FL; nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors today (Sunday) from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

ALBANY — Billy Storey, 76, of LaGrange, formerly of Albany, died Friday, May 9, 2008 at Florence Hand Nursing Home in LaGrange.

The graveside funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at Mt. Enon Church Cemetery in Mitchell County. The Rev. Chad Boyd will officiate.

A native of Columbus, Mr. Storey had lived in Albany since 1961. Mr. Storey joined the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He retired from the United States Air Force at Turner Air Force Base in 1967 having attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. In 1968, he began working at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital and continued working there until his retirement in April of 1993. He was a member of Baconton Baptist Church and the Baconton Men’s Club.

Mr. Storey is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Annette was born February 16, 1936 in Bainbridge, GA, the daughter of Hoke Smith Harrell and Ila Mae Croley Harrell. She graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1954, was a retired secretary and a member of First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Family Motor Coach Association and the Good Sam Club. She was preceded in death by a brother, Nathan Harrell.

Survivors include her husband, Tom Gregors of Bainbridge, GA; her daughter, Rhonda S. McGee of Hagerstown, MD; three sons, Rick Strickland and wife, Debbie of Tallahassee, FL, Tommy Gregors and wife, Sandy and Joe Gregors and wife Tammy, all of Albany; a brother, Jim Harrell and wife, Sandra of Bainbridge, GA; and 14 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.

CAMILLA — Edward Julian Lewis, 80, of Sneads Ferry, NC, died Friday, May 9, 2008 at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at First United Methodist Church of Sneads Ferry, NC, with interment in Salem Cemetery in Sneads Ferry, NC, the Rev. Ira Smith will officiate.

Born January 5, 1928, in Sneads Ferry, NC, he was the son of the late Edward James and Mamie Elizabeth Williams Lewis. Mr. Lewis was a member of First United Methodist Church of Sneads Ferry. He was a commercial fisherman. Mr. Lewis was married to the late Ruthele Lewis and was preceded in death by a sister, Eileen Webber and three brothers, Herbert Lewis, Jimmy Lewis, and Harry Lewis, and one son, Clint Lewis.

Survivors include two daughters, Cathy L. Kerce of Pelham, GA, and Deborah Silance of Holly Ridge, NC; four sons, Charles E. Lewis and wife, Carol, of Pelham, Steve Lewis of Charlotte, NC, Jon Lewis and wife, Tina, and James Lewis, all of Sneads Ferry; a sister-in-law, Kathryn Lewis of Sneads Ferry; and 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Monday, May 12, at Jones Funeral Home in Holly Ridge, NC.

SHELLMAN — Mary Catherine “Kay” Sheffield, 87, of Shellman, died Friday, May 9, 2008 at Patterson Hospital in Cuthbert. Graveside funeral services will be held conducted Tuesday, May 13th at 10 a.m. in East View Cemetery, in Shellman, with the Rev. Sharon Loyley officiating.

Mrs. Sheffield was born October 29, 1920 in Caseyville, KY, daughter of the late Harold and Truman Sipes Brown. She was a homemaker, a member of Shellman United Methodist Church and was married to the late John Edgar Sheffield, Sr. Mrs. Sheffield had lived in Shellman for the past 30 years, having moved from Chattanooga, TN.

Survivors include a son, John Edgar Sheffield Jr. of Las Vegas, NV, and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at Curry Funeral Home.

CUTHBERT — DeWitt Easter “Stoney” Wright, 87, of the Benevolence Community of Randolph County died Friday, May 9, 2008 at Lee County Health Care. Graveside funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 12th at 11 a.m. in the Benevolence Cemetery. The Revs. Ben McFather and Wallace Willis will officiate.

Mr. Wright was born March 28, 1921 in Tuscaloosa County, AL, son of the late DeWitt Talmadge and Lillie Cook Wright. He was an Army veteran of World War II, was a farmer and mechanic, and a member of Benevolence United Methodist Church. He was married to the late Maurine Reddick Wright.

Survivors include a son, John Wright and his wife, Diann of Albany; a daughter, Judy and her husband, Edward Goodwin of Weston; a sister, Lois LaGrone of Tuscaloosa; seven grandchildren, Lee Wright, Anissa Martin, Kimberly Davis, Cindy Spencer, Priscilla Goodwin, Edwina Turner, and Ginny McLeod; and 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends today (Sunday) from 4 p.m.-5 p.m. at Lunsford Funeral Home.
