Irene Tabor told Dougherty County Schools Police that at some time between May 5 and Tuesday, someone stole a change purse out of her classroom at Merry Acres Middle School and began using her credit cards.
Tabor told police that she first noticed her purse missing on May 5 and asked her students about it, but that all of them denied having any involvement. The next day, Tabor said she was called to the front office of the school to take a call from someone claiming to be a member of the Dougherty County School’s Police.
During the call, Tabor told police that the person asked her for her banking information including her PIN number and told her that they would be returning her cards to her that afternoon, the report states.
Two days later, Tabor began checking her banking information for suspicious activity and discovered that money had been transferred from her checking account to her credit cards to pay on their balances. She also noticed that on May 7, her credit card was used at an Enmark gas station and Beauty and Beyond for an undisclosed amount of money, the report states.
Police did have two suspects in the theft, but no arrests had been made as of press time.
