LEESBURG — Magical educator Chad Crews will bring a little wild magic to Leesburg next week as he presents “Catch the Reading Bug Safari Show” at Lee County Library, 245 Walnut Ave. S.

The free program begins at 10 a.m. Tuesday, and an encore performance will be held at 11 a.m.

The performance will combine magic, puppets, music and live animals and will focus on the library’s summer reading program.

“(It) will feature stories and books on lots of different bugs from all over,” Crews stated on his Web site. “Besides the snakes, spiders and scorpions, there will also be some new ‘Reading Bugs’ in the show — including a few Madagascar hissing cockroaches and a giant millipede or two. And, of course, there will be lots of bug-related magic routines, as well, along with lots of music, laughter and audience participation.”

A resident of north Augusta, Crews is a former earth science and biology teacher in the Burke County School System. Three years ago, the married father of one gave up teaching to serve as a pastor in Warrenton and to perform full-time in schools and libraries in Georgia and the Carolinas.
