ALBANY — An Albany woman told police she was stabbed in the hand after trying to fight off a robber Wednesday, police reports show.

Brenda Miller, 45, told police she was stabbed in the hand by a man trying to rob her at the intersection of Turner Field Road and Owens Drive, police reports show.

Miller told police she was walking to her niece’s home when she was approached by a person in a blue Honda Civic who left the vehicle and began asking her for money, the report says.

Having only $20, Miller said she gave the money to the man, who then told her to get into the car with him. When she refused, she said he pulled a knife and demanded more money.

Miller told police she then tried to wrestle the knife from the man and was cut during the tussle. After breaking free, the man jumped into the car and sped away, the report says.

Miller was treated at the scene by paramedics for the cut on her hand but refused to be transported to a hospital.

The robber, described by Miller as a light-skinned black man with a big stomach, has not been arrested.
