Travis Vicks, 27, and Wayne Patterson, 18, were robbed at the Grand Motel on Radium Springs Road around 1 a.m. Thursday morning, police officials say.
In a news release issued to the media, police say that 40-year-old Charlie Fountain, 38-year-old Melissa Burris and a black man known only as William, went to the motel to rob Vicks and Patterson when gunshots were exchanged.
Vicks and Fountain were shot and taken to area hospitals. Fountain was in critical condition Thursday while Vicks was in good condition, police officials said.
Burris has been arrested and charged with conspiracy, armed robbery and aggravated assault, police said. Patterson was found walking on the 200 block of Central Street and arrested on a charge of aggravated assault, police said.
Police said Thursday the sequence of events, including who shot whom, was under investigation.
Its not the first shooting linked to Vicks. Vicks, according to police, was a central figure in an ongoing feud between his family and the Washington family that is believed to have begun with the killing of Vicks brother Demetrius last year.
Travis Vicks was arrested in January in connection with the attempted shooting of Aretavious Washington after Washington said someone was following him in white Cadillac as he was walking near Central Street and Roosevelt Avenue when shots rang out.
Washington was arrested in that incident after he was accused of exchanging gunfire in a shootout that was described by investigators as resembling something out of the wild, wild West.
On Jan. 3, police said, Vicks may have been a target in a shooting at the AppleJax Lounge. In that incident, police said, 29-year-old Dewayne Jones was involved in a fight at the lounge that erupted into gunfire. Vicks was at the club, but managed to get out before the shooting started.
After that incident, police raided the homes of the Vicks and the Washingtons and confiscated at least eight weapons, including sawed-off shotguns, investigators said.
