Senator represents rural Georgians

Our own United States senator, Saxby Chambliss, has been forced into a runoff. Saxby got 49.8 percent of the vote. He needed one vote over 50 percent to avoid the runoff. Now the Dems are going to throw the kitchen sink at him in the form of Obama, Reid and Barney Frank to try to defeat Saxby. We vote again the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

Let’s look at the “big picture” if we lose a person who understands Southwest Georgia. Saxby has been our U.S. congressman before he became our senator. He knows agriculture and the agribusiness economy. Martin, who is a former urban Georgia lawmaker, knows zero about agriculture. Saxby has been extremely helpful in protecting our military bases in the 2nd District and serves on the Armed Services Committee. Martin would be a new freshman senator at the bottom of the totem pole. And Martin would be a rubber stamp for the Obama administration.

The 2nd District of Georgia and the nation we live in cannot afford this possibility.

Saxby Chambliss can be that “Georgia watchdog” if we return him to the United States Senate for another six years. We are desperately going to need someone to look out for the interests of the great nation we live in.

So vote early through Wednesday or on Dec. 2 in the general election runoff. Vote Saxby Chambliss to ensure 2nd District representation.
